UINSA ATTENDS THE SIGNING OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING IN THE 2023 PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF BPR AND BPRS IN EAST JAVA
UINSA Newsroom, Wednesday (12/06/2023); UIN Sunan Ampel (UINSA) Surabaya continues to build cooperation with various financial institutions. One such collaboration is through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UINSA and the Financial Services Authority of East Java Province (OJK Jatim) on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The signing of this MoU coincided with the 2023 Performance Evaluation of Rural Banks (BPR) and Sharia Rural Banks (BPRS) throughout East Java at the OJK East Java Provincial Office, with the theme “Improving the Competitiveness of BPR & BPRS in East Java through Digitization and Strengthening Human Capital.”
The event was attended by Giri Tribroto, Head of OJK East Java; Nasirwan, Director of Financial Institution Supervision 1, OJK East Java; Prof. Dr. Sukardiman, MS., Apt, Director of Education at Airlangga University (Unair).
Also present were Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi, MMT., IPU, Rector of the State University of Veterans (UPN Jatim); Prof. Dr. Abdul Muhid, M.Si., Vice Rector for Student Affairs at UINSA; Angga Surya Wijaya, Chairman of the DPD Perbarindo East Java; Agus Mulyana, Chairman of the BPRS Asbisindo DPW East Java Plus; and Sofia Nurkrisnajati Atmaja, Chairman of the Association of Regional Banks.
The hybrid event, attended by 279 BPRs and BPRSs, was complemented by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of BPR and BPRS Banking Industry and Universities in East Java (UNAIR, UINSA, UPN).
BPRs and Sharia BPRs (BPRS) are expected to play an active role in fostering the economy, especially in the micro, small, and medium-sized segments, which are the backbone of the Indonesian economy. Meanwhile, universities, as centers of excellence in education, can play a real and active role in enhancing the competence of human resources (HR) in BPRs and BPRS through community service programs that involve lecturers as mentors for BPRs and BPRS and through internship programs.
In his speech, Prof. Abdul Muhid explained that UINSA’s duties include the Tri Dharma of higher education. After signing the MoU with OJK, this becomes a form of very good partnership and collaboration that requires full support.
“UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, with its human resources and capacity, including studies on Islamic issues, such as studies on Islamic books related to OJK’s products,” he added.
OJK East Java took the initiative to enhance cooperation between the Association of BPR and BPRS Banking Industry (Perbarindo and Asbisindo) and Universities in East Java (UNAIR, UINSA, UPN) through the “Wani Sinau!” program (A Forum for Synergy between the Financial Services Industry and Universities). This synergy is expected to provide a multiplier effect for stakeholders in the BPR and BPRS industries and universities.
In addition, UINSA’s participation in this event solidifies the cooperative relationship and opens up collaboration opportunities with BPR-BPRS in East Java. “Because one of our tasks is one of the MBKM (Independent Learning Campus) at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business. Internship activities, which are one of the MBKM components, will be carried out soon. I thank the BPR, BPRS Association, for supporting and assisting us,” said Prof Muhid.
It is hoped that this will be a crucial collaborative foundation for UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and for the benefit of the nation and state.
