(Surabaya, 28/05/2025) UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya (UINSA) continues to deepen its global engagement through UINSA International Community Engagement 2025, commonly referred as the “KKN Internasional” program. Now in its second year, this flagship initiative stands alongside other community service programs such as “KKN Reguler” and “KKN Nusantara”, forming a comprehensive framework for community-based learning and social contribution across diverse local and international contexts.

Organized under the leadership of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM UINSA), and in close collaboration with the UINSA International Office, this year’s international engagement program expands its reach across four partner countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. Each destination offers participants the opportunity to align their academic expertise and community engagement contribution plans with specific sociocultural contexts.

While Thailand and Saudi Arabia will focus on schools (academic environment) as the central sites of research and service, Malaysia will engage with Indonesian migrant worker communities, and South Korea will concentrate on local Muslim communities. Following a rigorous document screening process, 103 students from across all faculties were shortlisted as potential awardees. The selection process included an in-depth interview phase held over two days, designed to foster reflective discussion and assess the applicants’ readiness to contribute meaningfully within global community settings.

This initiative is more than a mobility program, it represents UINSA’s commitment to creating ethical, research-driven, and socially engaged graduates capable of addressing real-world challenges through intercultural understanding and applied knowledge. By engaging directly with communities abroad, students are expected to bridge a sustainable networks, broaden their academic and cultural perspectives, and position UINSA as a progressive university whose impact extends far beyond national borders. Further updates will follow in the upcoming weeks, covering the participants’ departure and the specific activities conducted within each host country.
