Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) paid a visit to the Postgraduate Campus of the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Ampel Surabaya, in order to strengthen collaboration between universities. This visit is one of the steps taken in an effort to improve the quality of education and research at both institutions.

The arrival of the UUM Malaysia delegation was warmly welcomed by the leaders and staff of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, who in this case were represented by the postgraduate staff of the Master of Sharia Economics Study Program. The UUM delegation consists of lecturers, researchers, and administrative staff who have interests and expertise in various fields of science, especially Sharia economics.

During this visit, the two institutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will establish cooperation in various fields, including student and lecturer exchanges, joint research, seminars, and workshops. It is hoped that this MoU will open up new opportunities for students and lecturers from both universities to gain international experience and contribute to useful joint research.

Dr. H. Hammis Syafaq, Deputy Director of Postgraduate Studies at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, welcomed this collaboration and stated, “Now the world needs to collaborate, not fight.” Collaboration with UUM Malaysia is a very positive step in advancing education and research at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. We hope that “This collaboration will provide great benefits for the academic development of both institutions.”

This visit is a good start to a potentially strong partnership between UUM Malaysia and UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The two universities hope to work together on various academic projects that will strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia relations in the world of education and research.

Of course, this is an important step in advancing higher education in two important countries in the region. Hopefully, this collaboration will continue successfully in the future.
