Surabaya, Thursday, June 5, 2025 – Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel (UINSA) Surabaya once again affirms its role and commitment to strengthening international collaboration rooted in Islamic and humanitarian values. In conjunction with the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 H, UINSA officially received a sacrificial animal (qurban) donation from Iman Foundation, Malaysia.

The handover ceremony was carried out directly by the leader of Iman Foundation, Mr. Fakhruddin, accompanied by several international students from Malaysia. The donation was received by UINSA’s Rector, Prof. Akh. Muzakki, M.Ag., Grad.Dip.SEA., M.Phil., Ph.D., along with the university leadership and management of the Ma’had Al-Jami’ah Center. The donated animal—a cow—was not only seen as a religious offering but also as a concrete symbol of cross-national brotherhood and the active contribution of international students to the social and spiritual life of the campus.

In his remarks, Prof. Muzakki expressed his sincere appreciation for the presence and contribution of Malaysian students and Iman Foundation.

“We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to our fellow Malaysian students and the Iman Foundation for offering their Eid al-Adha sacrifice at UINSA. This is not merely a religious ritual, but a significant milestone in building friendship and strengthening international cooperation. We hope this initiative serves as a strategic bridge in enhancing relations—not only between Malaysian students and UINSA but also between Malaysia and Indonesia more broadly,” he said.

The Director of UINSA’s International Office, Nabiela Naily Ph.D, also expressed her appreciation. She shared her pride in the international students, who not only excel academically but also demonstrate character and social concern.

“I’m truly proud of our international students who not only achieve academically but also show strong morals and social responsibility. This sacrificial donation reflects our close partnership with Iman Foundation Malaysia, led by Ustadz Faizul,” said Nabiela.

She further emphasized that this relationship will continue to expand as part of UINSA’s broader vision to develop a global Islamic mission that is moderate, collaborative, and responsive to humanitarian challenges.

“This connection is not only built on the spirit of brotherhood, but it is also part of a strategy to strengthen Islamic outreach and UINSA’s real contribution to society and humanity. We hope this collaboration continues and grows even stronger in the future,” she added.

The handover ceremony was held in a solemn and warm atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood and mutual understanding between nations, which serves as a fundamental pillar of global Islamic education. This event is expected to be the starting point for future joint programs—academic, social, and religious—grounded in values of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all creation).
