From June 17 to 20, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the International Diplomats Conference at the United Nations Center in Bangkok, Thailand. As a 4th-semester student from FISIP UINSA, I proudly represented my campus among delegates from 140 countries. This experience enriched my understanding of global diplomacy, leadership, and cultural exchange, leaving me with unforgettable memories.

The first day was a welcoming and cultural day, where delegates introduced themselves and showcased their traditions. I enthusiastically shared insights about Indonesia’s rich heritage, from traditional dances to culinary delights. The vibrant atmosphere was filled with curiosity and excitement as we learned about each other’s backgrounds, fostering an instant sense of global camaraderie.

On the second day, we engaged in intensive discussions and diplomatic simulations, representing our assigned countries. This session sharpened my public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Delegates debated pressing global issues, mirroring real UN proceedings. I was inspired by how young leaders from diverse backgrounds collaborated to draft resolutions, proving that diplomacy transcends borders.

The third day was dedicated to exploring Thailand’s culture. We visited historical and cultural sites in Bangkok, immersing ourselves in the country’s traditions. From majestic temples to bustling markets, every moment was a learning experience. Tasting authentic Thai food and interacting with locals deepened my appreciation for their way of life, reinforcing the importance of cultural sensitivity in international relations.

The final day was an emotional farewell, where we reflected on our journey. The bonds formed in just four days were remarkable—exchanging contacts, sharing aspirations, and promising to stay connected. This conference wasn’t just about diplomacy; it was about building a global network of future leaders who believe in cooperation and mutual respect.

One of the most memorable moments was the cultural exhibition, where I proudly displayed Indonesian artifacts, clothing, and snacks. Many delegates were fascinated by our traditions, and I took pride in correcting misconceptions about Indonesia. Their enthusiasm motivated me to promote my country’s heritage even more passionately.

This conference was organized by Rights for Voice International Association, and I am grateful for their efforts in creating such a transformative platform. Representing UINSA and Indonesia was an honor, and I made sure to speak confidently about my nation’s role in global affairs. The applause I received after my presentation reassured me that Indonesia’s voice matters on the international stage.

Beyond diplomacy, I gained lifelong lessons in leadership, adaptability, and cross-cultural communication. The exposure to different perspectives taught me the value of listening, empathy, and inclusive decision-making. These skills are crucial not only for aspiring diplomats but for anyone aiming to make a positive impact in an interconnected world.

Looking back, this experience was more than just an academic opportunity—it was a journey of personal growth. I returned with new friendships, broader horizons, and a stronger determination to contribute to global dialogue. To all students dreaming of such opportunities, I say: Step out of your comfort zone, embrace the world, and let your voice be heard. This conference proved that young minds can indeed shape a better future
