About Faculty of Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya was established concurrently with the institutional status change from IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya to UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, precisely on October 1, 2013, based on the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 65 of 2013 regarding the Changes of the State Islamic Institute of Sunan Ampel Surabaya into the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya.
Furthermore, the formal naming of the faculty is documented in the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 56 of 2015 concerning the Statute of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs Number 8 of 2014 on April 28, 2014, concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya.
From its establishment until now, the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya has seven study programs:
- Environmental Engineering Study Program
- Architecture Study Program
- Information Systems Study Program
- Biology Study Program
- Mathematics Study Program
- Marine Science Study Program
- Civil Engineering Study Program
The Information Systems Study Program is accredited with the accreditation rating of ‘Excellent,’ while the Civil Engineering Study Program is accredited with a rating of ‘Good.’ The remaining five study programs are accredited with a rating of ‘B.’
The Civil Engineering Study Program was established in 2021, according to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Decision Number 574/E/O/2021 regarding the Operational Permit for the Civil Engineering Study Program at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya.
Excellent
- Internalization of Islamic values is embedded in every lecture.
- The implementation of the integration of Islam with science and technology is reflected in the curriculum, giving rise to distinctive courses within the program, such as Falakiah Mathematics, Islamic Architectural Heritage, Studies on Nusantara Islamic Architecture, Community-Based Design, Marine Jurisprudence, and Environmental Jurisprudence.
- Several courses in each program adopt project/product-based learning, aimed at producing scholarly works published in journals. All students are equipped with a minimum of 7 accompanying certificates. Community service is carried out through an integrated approach using ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development), PAR (Participatory Action Research), and CBR (Community-Based Research) models.
Competitive
- Every graduate of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya not only receives formal certificates in the form of a diploma and transcript but is also equipped with various academic supporting certificates. These include an Arabic Language Certificate (TOAFL), an English Language Certificate (TOEFL), an Al-Qur’an Reading Certificate, Practical Religion Certificate, Islamic Reasoning Certificate, DAT Certificate, Islamic Boarding School Certificate, and study program supporting certificates (Mobile Programming, Latex, R, Web, etc.), as well as Competency Certification from LSP.
- Furthermore, each year, a significant number of lecturers from the Study Programs successfully secure Research Grants from DIKTIS. Similarly, there is substantial competition among lecturers to obtain scholarships, resulting in a significant number of lecturers receiving scholarships for further studies, including pursuing Ph.D. degrees.
International Standard
- 2 study programs at FST are currently in the ASIIN international accreditation process
- Obtained ISO 9001: 2015-Quality Management System and ISO 21001:2018-Educational Organization Management System certificates
- Research collaboration and collaboration with international campuses such as UiTM Pahang Malaysia, Kumamoto University, and Kobe University Based on Islamic Values Islamic values are internalized in Tridharma PT activities, both in the learning process, research results, thesis or final project, and also community service based on Islamic boarding schools and coastal communities
